Possible Draft Day Trades

Yesterday, I wrote an article for NBCSports.com forecasting five trades that would make sense on draft day. Some were admittedly far-fetched, I could really see others happening. Here's the column and here's the quickie list.

1. Bears trade up with Patriots to draft Matt Ryan
2. Saints send second-round pick for Lito Sheppard
3. Eagles pony up for Roy Williams
4. Cowboys acquire Matt Jones for a mid-round pick
5. Jaguars make a splash by acquiring Jason Taylor

Give me some other trades you could see happening in the comments. We'll wrap up the weekly blog content with the Patriots Mock Draft pick in a bit.

I don't see Detroit trading Roy Williams even though he's near the end of his contract. They've spent several first Rd draft picks to finally get two good ones. Plus, it usually takes two-three years to groom a rookie WR.
It would have to be a ball buster of a deal to move Roy.
I do see them trading Shaun McDonald for a draft pick.

Wow, that was some good out of the box thinking. I read all of the Cowboys bloggers/experts and none of them have mentioned that Matt Jones idea. Good call Gregg! Only thing we hear around here is a possible 1st rounder for either Bouldin, Williams or Ocho. I'm still hoping for our 28th to go to Detroit for Williams myself.

The Cowboys WILL trade up with Oakland or Kansas City to take rb Darren McFadden. Remember, you heard it here. Take it to the bank!

Heard this one earlier today:

Vikes trade their #17 pick for the Cowboys #28 & #61 picks. The Cowboys either grab a WR (Mich. St's Devin Thomas) or a CB (Mike Jenkins, Aqib Talib, etc). Vikes hope either Calais Campbell or Joe Flacco falls to them @ #28.

I agree the Phins Jags deal makes all the sense in the world. Would be a great deal for Miami if it happened and for Jax as well.

Matt Jones to Dallas is interesting. I'm not sure it'd take more than a 6th round pick at this point.

I don't buy Detroit's reluctance to trade Roy Williams, either. I think the problem is that nobody has offered them enough yet. Maybe the Philly sends Lito Shepherd plus a first or second rounder... maybe it takes more.

Chad Johnson's days in Cincinnati are numbered. But, the Bengals won't give him what he wants: it'll either be a trade late in the preseason or they'll make him spend a season in purgatory, running routes over the middle, and trade him pre-draft next year. Either way, it won't be to Dallas and it most likely won't be to a contender.
