Pancake Blocks Mock: Pick No. 12
I must say, 12 picks in, that our draft has fewer surprises than the real draft is likely to have, with Darren McFadden to the Chiefs being a notable expection. All the picks are so ... logical. Here's another good one, with Taylor C. plugging major hole at left tackle in Denver.
WR and D-line were also given consideration however Tier 1 O-line talent is still on the board and makes the most sense here. A deep WR pool can allow for the position to be addressed later in the draft and a D-lineman doesn’t justify being selected this high. Although Harris and Kuper may have been able to shift to LT this pick allows them to slot in on other need areas on the line.
Williams is more athletic than project Jeff Otah (which fits the Broncos scheme) and Branden Albert would need to successfully change positions to fill the need at LT after the retirement of Matt Lepsis. Also, he has been a teammate of QB Jay Cutler’s in college so they are familiar with one another and his upside is excellent. Finally, Williams would become another building block in an emerging offence to allow Cutler, Marshall, Scheffer, Young, etc to continue to develop together.

Got to disagree here. I definitely think Jeff Otah is the better pick.

Like the pick. I think Denver can answer a real need here by picking a tackle. I might have taken Branden Albert, but Chris Williams is pretty close.
Have to say that, while I like Otah, too, he's more of a road grader than he is athletic. I'm not convinced he'd be capable of a zone blocking scheme. Better fit for Chicago, maybe.

Cant argue the pick

Not gonna argue the pick, although I think if too many teams think they can wait until the second round or later to grab a WR then we're going to have a few teams left looking at a bunch of 2nd teir guys.
As to Greg's point, since we can't make trades we're not gonna be able to shake it up (Thanks FERRALL)
