Pancake Blocks Mock Draft: Pick No. 10

Scott K. has the honors with our tenth pick. He's writing from my favorite town in the country- New Orleans. Sorry about slowing the pace of the draft down the last two days. We'll go three picks today. So James, you are up and TC get ready

With no real holes on offense to fill worthy of a high pick, this pick has to be on the defensive side of the ball. With the premier defenders gone, the Saints have to decide between a quality linebacker, a pass rush specialist, or a cornerback work in progress. A trade down is a possibility, but impossible to predict. With the Saints signing of Bobby McCrary, Randall Gay, Aaron Glenn, and eventual trade for Lito Sheppard (fingers crossed), it makes this pick fairly easy.

This pick will produce immediate dividends unlike a cornerback and turn a weakness from last year into a perceived strength. It's not a sexy pick, but it's the right pick and gives the Saints their best linebacker corps since the Dome Patrol. Who Dat!

With the 10th pick, the New Orleans Saints select, linebacker from Southern California, Keith Rivers.

New Orleans is back and better than ever. Visit NOLA!

Hard hitting defenders is always sexy!!!

fells like a reach

All of the picks outside of the top 7 will be reaches, their are only 7 high quality players. McKelvin and Clady are just as much if not more of a reach.

I don't think I would consider Clady, McKelvin and Rivers' reaches.

I would agree that there may be a drop off to a slightly lower shelf in talent after those top 7 picks, but that alone wouldn't make those picks reaches.

I think, given what the draft board has to offer, those 3 picks are each as good as those teams can do in drafting a highly rated prospect to fill team needs with those respective picks.

I like this pick. Rivers should be a good 4-3 LB for 10 years and is the best available this year.

I think its appropriate to fill team needs past the top 5 this year, because I only see 4 to 6 elite players but then a very deep second tier.

I personally dont feel it to be a reach condsidering whos on board and considering his rank his right there. The next back isn't considered till the end of round 1 possibly.

I agree with chad about a very deep second tier. So this pick would depend on how elite clady is. But nontheless a good choice for Cinci.

I don't think its a reach. It wouldn't totally shock me if the Patriots took him at number seven.
