Pancake Blocks Mock Draft: Pick No. 8
A lot of people have Baltimore pining for a quarterback, which they should be. There are some indications, though, that they view Troy Smith as a legitimate contender to start. If not this year, then soon, even if he's a fallback plan. Here is Ryan F with the Ravens pick.
If at #4, Matt Ryan is still on the board, I think there is a very good possibility the Ravens try to trade up and grab that pick. But, seeing he's already off the board, I think the Ravens have to go CB here. I like Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, but I don't think he really fits his system. To me it's between Aqib Talib and Leodis McKelvin. And, seeing as how I'm just not so sure about Talib yet.... With the 8th pick in the 2008 Draft, the Baltimore Ravens select Leodis McKelvin.
2008 Pancake Blocks Mock Draft
1. Miami Dolphins (Scott L.) - Chris Long
2. St. Louis Rams (Evan Silva) - Glenn Dorsey
3. Atlanta Falcons (Troy Hill) - Matt Ryan
4. Oakland Raiders (Stephen G.) - Jake Long
5. Kansas City Chiefs (Jeremy S.) - Darren McFadden
6. New York Jets (John B.) - Vernon Gholston
7. New England Patriots (Gregg R.) - Sedrick Ellis
8. Baltimore Ravens (Ryan F.) - Leodis McKelvin

I like this pick. Baltimore's D is aging, particularly in the secondary and McKelvin should make a quick impact.

I'd like either Clady or McKelvin with that pick (or trading down to take Brian Brohm if those two are gone. If Sedrick Ellis is still on the board at 8 there could be a lot of teams looking to trade up.

McKelvin has the talent but I must disagree with this pick.
Clady is still on the board and thats the direction they need to go. The Ravens offence (aside from McGahee)has no dynamics, predictable and slower then molases. Baltimores "D" is still stout enough to do the job but offence needs to give them a breather.
Hell even winning the superbowl was all defence and that just wont happen again.
pick Clady, or trade out!!!!

Yes, my point with this pick was they would like to trade out of this pick. Either with KC (if Matt Ryan is still on the board) or a ways down the board and grab a CB like Flowers.
I do agree Clady is a good deal here, but I think their secondary, other then QB, is their most prominent need.

I'm not so sure my friend. If Jonathan Ogden retires this year, a major need is there because Adam terry is a major downgrade or even if McGahee goes down in injury, the entire offense will shut down, and I'm not trying to be sarcastic or exagerate the situation.

Does Clady have more upside than Jared Gaither? Doubt it. Defense is the Ravens biggest need. Leodis McKelvin is a good pick right here. Solid CB and returner.
I have images of Jordy Nelson torching Talib. I still think he'll be a fine CB though.
