Mike Shanahan: Mediocre WR savior
Some schedules, like the Broncos, are already leaking out piece by piece. The Patriots are reportedly opening with the Chiefs.
I'll wait to the official reports come out to comment more, but I have to wonder who will be catching passes from Jay Cutler in their Week 1 opener in Oakland. The team signed Samie Parker this week and are close to inking Darrell Jackson. So is the Keary Colbert revival already dead?
I wouldn't be quite so sure yet. As ESPN.com's Bill Williamson writes:
"The Broncos are looking for a No. 2 receiver and if Jackson signs, he'll likely compete with Colbert for the starting slot opposite of Marshall with Stokley staying the No. 3 and Parker providing insurance."
Makes sense, although you'd like to see the Broncos try to develop someone else. I'm not convinced Jackson is ever going to be a major fantasy factor again, but connecting with West Coast maestro Mike Shanahan would give him a shot.

As a D-Jax owner still holding out a shred of hope, I'm not incredibly excited about his imminent signing with the Broncos, but at least its a chance. If healthy, Jackson should easily beat out Colbert, Stokley, and Parker for the #2 role. He may even put up decent numbers if Marshall misses any time in recovery.
Just an observation, and maybe its just me, but isn't it strange/suspicious that a 29 year old West Coast wide-out with a productive history can't get any play from receiver-needy West Coast teams who just happen to be from the Mike Holmgren coaching-tree (TB, PHI, MIN)?
