Depressing day for Chiefs fans

When quarterback is listed behind at least five other needs on the team. I don't buy it. They need to get an alternative Brodie Croyle before moving forward.

Depressing for LJ owners when the whole offensive line needs help. Are you posting 3 picks today since only 1 was posted yesterday?

The real depressing thing is that DEnd will move up the charts once Allen is gone. It should go OTackle, Oguard, Center, WR, DE, QB, CB

The reason I think QB is so low is because they at least have a guy they THINK will be decent. They have nothing, nothing at all, at the oline positions, the #2 WR position, or the DE position once Allen is gone.

It's already depressing to be a Chiefs fan. They had a strong team for a lot of years, but missed their window. Then, their offensive line got old fast.

The crazy thing is that the defense (at least with Jared Allen) has a lot of talent. I thought it was pretty good last year, albeit not always reflected in the stats because the failure to move the ball put so much pressure on, and wore down, the defense.

As far as team needs, QB is certainly a need. But I'm not giving up on Croyle yet. The coaching staff and organization obviously liked what they saw of him enough during his rookie year to believe in him as the future, but then last year he wasn't up to the job (when you can't beat out Damon Huard in pre-season when the coaching staff is rooting for you, that's not a good sign). But the thing is, without a better offensive line and another receiver besides Gonzales and Bowe, I don't think a lot of QBs would succeed there.

So I really have no problem if they use this draft to rebuild their O-line, bolster their D-line, pick up a QB and take a flier on a couple of Wide-outs.

Then next year, when they'll almost certainly be picking in the top 5 again, they can go get their QB of the future and put him in position to succeed, rather than wrecking his confidence David-Carr-style.

Also want to say I was bummed about the Jared Allen trade when I first heard about it -- I mean why not rebuild around the most feared D-line in the league (if you can draft Sedrick Ellis or even Glenn Dorsey to go with Allen, Hali and a developing Tank Tyler). That would at least give the team an identity and something to build around. But if you trade Allen, maybe you won't have to reach for a lineman with the 5th pick and can instead get an impact D-lineman like Dorsey, Ellis, C. Long or Gholston, and can use those extra picks on an offensive lineman, a corner back and (with the 2009 second rounder) either another lineman or a Wide Receiver.

I hate to lose Allen, but when you see a list like this where QB is like 5th or 6th, I can see why they'd rather have picks during rebuilding.

I'll post the picks as fast as I get em. Justin with San Diego's pick is up, B roo on the clock. Justin out there?

I was once a Chiefs fan. Ive disowned them. Until they get rid of Carl Peterson, I dont imagine myself going back. I remember when they had a great defense and a great O-line. Back in the James Hasty and Dale Carter days. They always had crappy running backs...Greg Hill etc. Elvis Grbac was the QB and they lost in the playoffs. Here they are now...crappy QB, running their backs into the ground. A defense with potential. This is nearly the same formula that they used when they lost in the 90s. I became too depressed to care a few years ago. Until they get rid of Carl Peterson and are willing to spend money to build a good team, my loyalty is with the Titans.

Beginning to look like Justin needs a replacement picker.

Allen wasn't going to resign with the Chiefs for more than one year anyways. If they get the Vikings pick (#17, right?) they can grab a D-lineman at 5 and one of the second tier OT's at 17, probably. For a rebuilding team, thats not a bad deal.
