Accepting Mediocity
So much for Sage. The Vikings agreed to terms with Gus Frerotte Wednesday, setting their hopes for a passing game in 2008 somewhere between passable and mediocre. I'm not as down on Frerotte as Rams nut Evan Silva and even agree with Brad Childress that Frerotte can still "fling the football".
Watching tape of Frerotte from 2007, I was amazed how strong his arm was and how he could nail low percentage throws under pressure. I also saw him as highly mistake prone, and watched him hand a few games away. Frerotte is a decent backup, but this move is still a step back for Minnesota. Unless the Vikings draft another quarterback, It's basically admitting that Tarvaris Jackson is all the upside Minnesota needs at quarterback long term. I disagree, and Sidney Rice owners especially should be disappointed.

I have no idea what is going on in Minny and the QB situation. I don't think very many people outside of the Vikings organization believe Tarvaris Jackson can be a solid QB. In fact, there probably aren't many people inside the organization that believe that either.
Sage Rosenfals almost made too much sense and I can't believe they couldn't work out a trade. I sure hope they're eyeing a Day One QB in the draft.

I can't believe the Minny Vikes didn't give me, ummmm, I mean, Byron Leftwich a shot. Still young, rifle arm, a little slow legged yes, but better than what they have!
