The Giants looked awesome running the ball in 2007 no matter who got the ball - as long as it wasn't Reuben Droughns. With Derrick Ward back in the fold, New York again has three great options. Brandon Jacobs, Ward, and Ahmad Bradshaw combined for 350 carries and 1801 rushing yards in the regular season, with 51 catches.
I thought Ward could have challenged for a starting job elsewhere, but his injury history must have scared teams away. His return makes a difficult projection in fantasy leagues even harder. Bradshaw has to become a bigger part of the offense. I think he has a chance to be among the best small backs in the NFL.

After getting a look at Chris Brown's contract, he's almost a lock to make the Texans roster. He could be the favorite to start and I suspect Ahman Green's roster spot is just as precarious as someone like Chris Taylor.
Green got a $5 million signing bonus last year, so the Texans would have to eat $3.75 million of that bonus on the cap if they dealt him. But add up Green's big salary and roster bonus ($4.3 million) and they would actually save cap room (and real $$) if they cut him before Week 1. In the end, Green's contract won't save him if he isn't performing.

Every time I think Chris Brown has slipped into fantasy relevance for good, he gets a better job than he deserves. Last year, he was signed in Tennessee when the Titans got buyer's remorse on Chris Henry. He wound up blowing up in Week 1, then did his usual fade.
This time, Brown landed in a perfect place for his skills - Houston. His homerun ability could play well with the Texans' zone blocking scheme. He can't carry the ball 20 times a game, but he could give Gary Kubiak 10-15 productive touches. He has career marks of 4.3 yards-per-carry, 9 yards-per-catch.

Kevin Jones was released by the Lions today, another reminder that top-five keeper league rookie picks aren't always gold (Hello Cedric Benson, J.J. Arrington, and Brandon Jackson). I'll get to Jones' past and future in another post, but first let's look at the situation in Detroit.
The favorite to start in Week 1 isn't on the roster

Lacking in new content here, but I have a piece Five Offseason Myths over at the new NBCSports.com. I write about Javon Walker, all the defensive tackle trades, whether the Patriots dynasty is crumbling, and Asante Samuel's contract. Help make me look popular.
My articles there will not be fantasy related. I've tended to mix fantasy and "reality" in the blog, but I'll keep the blog more focused on fantasy now and leave the rest for those articles. And as anyone who knows me well could tell you, a little more focus can't hurt.

The blog has been quiet lately as I've helped out on our baseball video previews and started to get ready for a Japan trip to see the in-laws and watch some Red Sox International. Then this place will really get quiet, although the timing feels right as we head into the Donnie Nickey/Dan Klecko/Danny Clark phase of free agency. Here are a couple loose thoughts on the events of the past few days ...
The Texans could be posturing or they could really be hesitant to draft a first-round running back. Considering their system, I'm betting the latter. Chris Taylor sounds like a nice deep dynasty league pickup.

As hard as it is to believe, LaDainian Tomlinson is going to hit his decline one of these years. The trick for keeper and dynasty owners is knowing when to deal him. After seven seasons and 2,918 touches, the moment is closer than some may think.
If I owned Tomlinson, I would put feelers out there to see what type of bounty he'd bring in. I would plan on keeping him one more season, then dealing him, but would keep my mind open to being blown away by an offer.

Larry Fitzgerald finally re-signed with the Cardinals, with the last negotiating point being that he could break the news himself to push traffic to his website. Okay, I made that last part up, although honestly I wouldn't be surprised.
Fitzgerald took some public hits for dragging the negotiations out, but it was the organization's fault and responsibility. They made the contract and they made it highly difficult to meet his contract escalators. He met them - good for him.

I smell a Rotoworld sleeper. I'm always a sucker for Jon Gruden wideouts, and Antonio Bryant adds a much-needed combination of youth, speed, and production to the Bucs wideout group. Asking for another great year from Joey Galloway is pushing it, and the trio of Ike Hilliard/Michael Clayton/Maurice Stovall look decidedly mediocre. Evan Silva predicts Clayton will finally get the axe from Jon Gruden, and I can't disagree as much as it pains me.
Bryant is always going to be a risk, but the 49ers never questioned his work ethic. His talent and production match Bernard Berrian, Jerry Porter, and Donte Stallworth at a fraction of the price.
For more thoughts on Bryant, you can check out the official Rotoworld blurb on Bryant and the rest of the Bucs wideouts. Thanks for stopping by.
