Dynasty Ranks

Anyone looking for some good offseason debate material should check out Chris Wesseling's Dynasty Rankings series, which wrapped up today with tight ends.
I don't agree with all of Chris' opinions of course, but that's what makes these things fun. They are well thought out and make sense. Frankly, I agree with most of his ideas more than just about any other ranks I see.
So check out his QBs and RBs and let me know what you think.
I thought it might be fun to look at his ranks and pick out where I disagree the most. Let's start with the TEs.
I agree that Todd Heap is probably undervalued as much as any tight end right now, but he's always a huge injury risk. Vernon Davis is a huge question mark. I own him, believe he can be a top-five tight end, but does he have the football instincts to get there? This season will be telling.
I would knock Tony Scheffler down a tier and below Jeremy Shockey. I don't think Scheffler's upside is that much higher than Shockey's established levels of performance. As a Patriots fan, I would probably knock Ben Watson down a tier. I'm convinced he'll never be a true TE1.
Owen Daniels, Greg Olsen, and Heath Miller all still have room to grow and look like good values this season in keeper and redraft leagues.

I couldn't agree more with your assesments of the TE Dynasty rankings. Owen Daniels, Greg Olsen and Heath Miller are great values in Dynasty.
As far as QB's, I'm sure Wesseling will probably receive more messages regarding Roethlisberger's inclusion in the top 3 more than anything. Taking into account he's only 26 and pretty much signed a lifetime contract with Pittsburgh, the stability is there for him to be productive for many many seasons.
Even with Chad Johnson's eventual departure and recetn up and down play, I still think Carson Palmer is a top 3 Dynasty QB. I'd rank them Brady, Peyton, Palmer, Roethlisberger and then Romo.
As far as RB's go, I'd hate to be going into a first year dynasty league and trying to decide when and where to select productive but 29 year old RB's like LT and Westbrook. I guess it would depend on how much longer you think they will produce at their current levels. They both scare the beejezus out of me.

Can you give some insight or point to some resources on starting/running a dynasty league? I don't mean strategy (although that would be nice) but really logistics in getting the thing going. Roster size/restrictions, etc. Also, how do you manage one of these with people, what terms do you make people agree to, how do you manage problems of people quitting (hopefully with up-front planning), etc. How do you set up the terms of a dynasty league?

Dennis,
I recently began a dynasty league last year, and it went really well. The best way to do a dynasty league would be to use an auction format the first year, with only rookie drafts thereafter. Of course theres much, much more detail to all the things involved with it. Myfantasyleague.com has a lot of resources. I'm actually looking to join another dynasty league so if your looking for information and would be willing to offer me a spot, send me an email (scottchism@msn.com) I can give you a good template layout of the league to base off of.
