Chris Brown still somehow matters

Every time I think Chris Brown has slipped into fantasy relevance for good, he gets a better job than he deserves. Last year, he was signed in Tennessee when the Titans got buyer's remorse on Chris Henry. He wound up blowing up in Week 1, then did his usual fade.
This time, Brown landed in a perfect place for his skills - Houston. His homerun ability could play well with the Texans' zone blocking scheme. He can't carry the ball 20 times a game, but he could give Gary Kubiak 10-15 productive touches. He has career marks of 4.3 yards-per-carry, 9 yards-per-catch.
Brown will battle Ahman Green, Darius Walker, and Chris Taylor in an entertaining training camp battle royale. I like Taylor and Brown's chances to emerge, although the Texans say they still believe in Green. A rookie may be added to the mix, but it probably won't be a high pick now. The Texans should be another team starting the year in a committee. This will make the true "number one" backs all the more valuable.

They can believe in Green all they want until he gets injured. I don't see a place for Brown on one of my rosters unless everyone else was injured. I have bought that too many times. I benefited a couple times but wasted a roster spot most of the time.

Too funny. I remember when one jackass was all over Brown after that 1st week last season swearing it wasn't a fluke.
So much for that...

Gary Kubiak and GM Rick Smith are doing exactly what they need to do for our team. Green was injured last year; so they bring in a younger veteran RB in Brown. You have to remember, Kubiak and Smith are high on this guy because of what Brown did at Colorado. Also, don't forget that Houston pulled Alex Gibbs out of retirement. This is the coach that set up the zone blocking scheme for Colorado while Brown was there. These coaches have more insight on what Brown can do. I have yet to see Kubiak and Smith disappoint on any pick or signing that they've made.

A. Gibbs didn't coach at COLORADO (which is what the locals refer to one of the colleges in the area as...) , but for Denver, and Brown didn't play for DENVER, but for the University of COLORADO, who may or may not have run a zone scheme while he was there, but Gibbs did not oversee that line.... Confusing I know, but it is what it is.
As for the Texans interest, it probably does go back to when Brown was coming out, and the Broncos being interestyed at that time. By now, all the folks in COLORADO, are happy he isn't coming home. Never produced consistently, and he isn't getting any better, or younger... While Irespect both Kub, and Smith, this move is a little bit of a head scratcher to me, if they are looking at him as anything other than a guy to give The Guy an occasional breather...
