Across the Sea
So I'm at the airport currently waiting for a flight to Japan. I'll be there for a week and a half of in-laws, Red Sox, and friends with a Red Sox addiction strong enough to follow them to Tokyo. It is going to be odd helping to "host" people there when I can't speak the language at all. I will check in here occasionally throughout the trip, but the posting will be irregular, especially until the exhibition games start in a week.
Let me know if anyone reading happens to be in Tokyo and going to the hopefully bizarre Red Sox Nation get together after the first exhibition game. I'm planning to write a longer piece about that experience for the main site.
Evan Silva and the boys will have the news page cranking as usual, and Chris Wesseling will be posting some cool dynasty rankings starting this week. See you on the other side.

I know the Japanese like baseball but does anybody over there care about NFL football? Curious whether fantasy football has made its way across the Pacific.

While watching Ninja Warrior on G4 the other day, one of the contestants was a female football player. She wore shoulder pads and a helmet and everything. Do they have pro leagues in japan, or is it just women who play as a novelty? Anyone know?

Nah, interest in American football is almost non-existent. The Super Bowl is on cable, but people dont know the rules, etc.
MLB is real popular of course, but I was suprised how big the NBA is. You can buy a version of a Season Pass package on cable which seems crazy.
