Why trade Shockey?

Occasionally, a rumor will start in the NFL that has absolutely nothing behind it. No newspaper is reporting it's even possible, but the rumor gets out, and everyone has a topic point to discuss for a week. The possible trade of Jeremy Shockey is one of those rumors.
The Giants have absolutely no motivation to deal Shockey. He's a borderline Pro Bowl player with a very reasonable contract. Anyone that thinks the Giants starting winning because Shockey was hurt is insane. His injury didn't make Eli more accurate. The return to health of Plaxico Burress and Steve Smith, not to mention a dominant front four, are why the Giants starting winning.
People say Eli could "feel more comfortable in the huddle" as if they have been there. We have no clue about the team dynamics, but we do know Shockey gives Eli Manning a good weapon. And he can block, which Kevin Boss can't. A tandem of Shockey and Boss would be excellent. NFL teams just don't get rid of quality players unless they are forced to, and there isn't a single compelling reason to get rid of Shockey.

The reason the Giants played well is the Patriots choked. :-p
Seriously though, The emergence of Boss should only help. Run Shockey as a quasi-WR. Unless someone who is actually close to the organization _knows_ Shockey brings out the worst in Eli, there's no need to trade him.
