Sorting through the Flotsam
A few teams got a head start on roster cuts yesterday, highlighted by a trio of once useful receivers. Let's take a quick look to see if any of them have any future value.
Justin McCareins, Jets - Hard to believe the Jets gave up a second-round pick for this one-time fantasy sleeper. Find a painful Jets loss in the last few years, and McCareins probably dropped a pass towards the end of it.
If McCareins is smart, he'll take a small deal to return to Tennessee, where offensive coordinator Mike Heimerdinger helped make him a success. With a little confidence, he could earn a starting job and eventually get back on the fantasy radar.
Eddie Kennison, Chiefs - 35-year old receivers often don't survive 13-catch seasons. Kennison can't help on special teams, so he might not get another shot.
Brandon Lloyd, Redskins - The Redskins gave up four mid-round picks over the last two years for three combined seasons of Lloyd and T.J. Duckett. Combined yardage: 527 yards. Lloyd has some mid-air skills, but he just doesn't want to be a NFL pro. Old buddy Ron Turner could give him a shot, but I consider him done in all fantasy leagues.

Comments
All these receivers are done. If they can't be starters in Washington, New York or Kansas City, where else can they go. They'll be backups at best...
