Snubbed coach giving away 'Skins plans?
The Redskins may be getting some blowback for their long, winding coaching search. First, Jim Fassel started taking entertaining, but ill-advised shots at Vinny Cerrato and Jim Zorn.
Now one of their rejected coaching candidates is giving out their offseason plans. The Post writes today about Washington's interest in Chad Johnson, who just wants more money like I've written. Multiple sources tell Jason La Canfora that Washington has made Ocho Cinco a priority, but one unnamed coach doesn't mind being quoted.
"He (Snyder) made it very clear that (Johnson) was his top choice," one coaching candidate said.
It's easy to connect the dots and blame Fassel for giving away Washington's plans, but Steve Spagnuolo and Steve Mariucci have some motivation too. it's bad for business no matter who it is.
I have expected Johnson to stay in Cincy this offseason, primarily because I didn't think a team would give up a pair of high draft picks and a huge contract to make it happen. Perhaps I underestimated the Redskins. If one year of T.J. Duckett is worth two mid-round picks, then perhaps they can find a first and second-round pick for Chad Johnson. Vive le Cerrato!

A move to DC would kill his (CJ)fantasy value. The offense will be at ground zero starting over, new coach, coordinator. Cambell has a new system to learn. The Redskins have never been a throw happy team which won't bode well for too many rehearsed TD celebrations. It's a recipe for disaster, sounds like a perfect gameplan for Washington.
