Mayock doesn't see McFadden in top-20

Our favorite Draft guru, NFL Network's Mike Mayock, broke out his top-10 overall picks for the first time on Monday.
I will talk about his top ten shortly and his comparisons of Matt Ryan to Ben Roethlisberger, but the most interesting part of his top ten was the name that wasn't there - Darren McFadden.
"I just watched three tapes and I wasn't as impressed as I expected to be," Mayock said. "Great burst, great acceleration, but I wouldn't touch him in the top 20 picks."
The buzz on McFadden seems to have slowed some over the last 12 months, but that's still a shocker. Is it the Reggie Bush effect? Does it reflect that running backs better be Adrian Peterson-like special to be worth taking in the top ten?
Either way, Mayock has a better beat on how NFL teams think than most draft analysts. I bet a lot of NFL boards have concerns about McFadden too.

Comments
I think he is a little off saying McFadden is not top-20, but I think Rashard Mendenhall will be the better back of this draft class and should be taken before McFadden.

Insane talk - McFadden may be every bit as good as AP

A while back I asked if McFadden could experience a Brady Quinn like fall from grace and was told I was an idiot to even ask the question. Maybe I'm not so dumb after all?

Obviously, Jerry Jones has been slipping a little payola to Mike Maycock...

Agree 100% with Josh. If he drops past 10, Jerry will trade up to take him at 11.

Surprises do happen during the draft, but... anyone think a couple of the teams in the top 6 last year wish they had picked Peterson?
I'm sensing the same possibility here. Mayock may in fact be correct about the NFL types having reservations, but I'm not buying this one.
I'll take the under and pick McFadden to go in the upper half of the top 20. If anyone wants to take the over... I'll take that bet all day.
Despite his mock, I doubt Mayock would put his money behind this bold prediction.

McFadden doesn't have
Peterson's vision or his
ability to make guys miss
in the hole. I'd much rather
take Mendedhall down in the
20's than McFadden in the
top-5 to 10.
