Home stretch odds and ends
* Patrick Willis wouldn't take sides in the quarterback controversy in San Francisco, but said the team expected a competition and may the best man win. There's no "Alex is our QB" talk around the 49ers.
* Of all the players I've seen here, Kyle Brady is the most frightening. The proverbial guy who looks good (and huge) coming off a bus.
* Jon Beason said he never expected to play middle linebacker in his rookie season, but now he doesn't want to leave the position. Patrick Willis said he hears a lot from a lot of happy fantasy owners.
* An informal poll of Hall of Fame voters and watchers indicates this is as wide open a race as they can remember. Some are concerned that almost twice as many offensive players as defensive players have got in this decade. We could see a correction. Some don't think Cris Carter is a total lock. I think Andre Tippett and Paul Tagliabue have a better chance than people think.
* Kellen Winslow said the condition of his knee is an ongoing problem, and he didn't seem to think it will end anytime soon. He also declared himself the best fantasy tight end, and thanked owners for their support. Although he jokingly chastised owners for not believing in the Browns before the season.
* So much about this week has nothing to do with the Super Bowl, and shockingly little football talk seems to go on about the matchups. In this media age, I think we all get tired of storylines like the undefeated Patriots beaten over our head.
But I'm trying not to forget for one minute what a historic game this will be. No matter what happens, every football fan will remember it for the rest of our lives. Win or lose, the Patriots season will be remembered as epic. The Greatest team of all time or one of the most disappointing losses in Super Bowl history. It's a priviledge to be here.
Not sure what exactly we're getting into tonight, but will continue to blog and post some videos throughout the weekend. I will liveblog the Super Bowl. Thanks to my wife for keeping me laughing and thanks to everyone else for stopping by all week

Sounds like fun Gregg! Is Winslow's knee something to worry about? He seems to perform well anyway...is that due to change next season?
Keep up the good work...

Sounds like he's getting another surgery. He's broken all the rules so far, so I wont doubt him anymore
