Falling Big Names

I wrote up the first six rounds of my "Day After Super Bowl" Mock Draft earlier this week. Here are a handful of notable names that fell far into the mid-to-late rounds.

Edgerrin James, 7.01- Arizona should get someone to split carries, so this is about right. I don't they will cut him though.

Marvin Harrison, 7.02 - Bizarre to see him go so low. It's way too early to know, but early reports aren't encouraging. Still, this is a fine spot to go boom-or-bust.

Jerricho Cotchery, 7.08 - I was a little surprised Cotchery didn't go higher after another good year.

Cedric Benson, 8.05 - I am Benson's biggest detractor, but his broken ankle may not be as big a long-term detriment as something like torn knee ligaments. His value depends on who the Bears add at the position.

Marc Bulger, 9.02 - I'm going to love me some Bulger if he consistently falls this far next season.

Deuce McAllister, 9.08 - He's a mystery because of his injury. A second torn ACL is tough to come back from.

Kevin Jones, 10.01 - To be honest, I forgot he was on the board when I took three straight backs in rounds 6-8. Like last year, Jones is worth a gamble if he's going this late.

Deion Branch, 10.02- This is too high considering the severity of his injury.

Julius Jones, 10.04 - Depends where he lands, but Julius is a great gamble to get a second life this deep.

DeShaun Foster, 11.11 - Probably getting cut or traded.

Carnell Williams, 12.01 - Uncertain to play at all this season. Another example of why any projections this early are just guesswork. Much like projecting the college class before their senior year.

Ahman Green, 12.07- I made this pick. I'm not a fan, but he's still the favorite to be starting for the Texans in Week 1. I'll take it as my RB5.

The whole draft is listed here. Let me know your thoughts on it.

I know this draft is very early, but there seems to be some great QB value. Big Ben and Favre in round 7. Bulger in the ninth- 12th QB taken I think(I'd take him, surely he can't be injured and ruin my fantasy team two years in a row, can he?). Schaub, Garrard and Cutler in the 10th. There is good upside for all 3 of these picks.

Gregg: I love your work, but I can't believe you're still pimpin' for Julius Jones. I admit that if he lands in Houston or Denver and starts he'll have value. Time will tell.
