Another Dynasty Falls
First of all, I want to say thank you to the outpouring of support during these difficult times. I've received an embarrassing number of emails and texts wondering how I'm coping, and yes, it's time to move on. Most of them approach me as if someone passed away. It's time to move on.
Combing through the RSS feeds today, I noticed the quiet death of a longer dynasty: HBO's Inside the NFL is no longer!
The show was in its thirty-first season, and is going to continue in some form elsewhere next year. The NFL owns the rights to the show, but all the talent had contracts with HBO, so the lineup could change.
When the show started, the lack of highlights elsewhere made the show's weekly recap bits unique. The show's relevance isn't quite the same because of all the competition these days, but the access to NFL Films still gives it an edge over other shows. Here's hoping it finds a good home next year, and that they don't get rid of Cris Collinsworth.

I liked Inside the NFL, I've watched it for years. But in the last couple seasons it got away from what it did best, the picks. They started to only pick and discuss a few games. Plus I felt like they didn't cover all the teams well enough, they mainly stuck to the hyped ones. I'd like to see the show full of more analysis, picks, features and even some fantasy bits (if they could hire someone competent enough to get into all that), and then cut down the highlights some. Still, its a surprise the show is ending its run on HBO.

Chris Collingsworth was what was wrong with the show. He was such a New England and Tom Brady homer, it was truly sickening. Bob Costas was steller as usual. Dan Marino seemed to come across as a bitter old has been. i hope the show does make a comeback somewhere with different players.
