Tom Coughlin is always in control
One tired theme of this entire Giants seasons is how Tom Coughlin has chang to a kinder, gentler coaching style. He’s more “player friendly,” although Michael Strahan and offensive coordinator Gilbride both noted he’s not too different. The whole storyline sounds like a convenient explanation of the Giants' success that would only come after the fact.
Coughlin was quite affable Wednesday, but his edgy personality still came out. On two occasions, he chastised the room for being so loud on the side where many camera crews were setting up for the players.
He started his presser (two minutes early) by saying, “Loud group, must be free food or something.”
Like kids in trouble at school, it got quiet for a while, then the noise built back up. In Coughlin’s defense, it was extremely loud and he wasn’t the only one who thought it was rude.
“Is this the deal?” Coughlin asked to the Giants press aide. “I have to speak 90,000 volumes above everyone?”
