Super Bowl blog ready for liftoff

I have the best job in the world. I know this, have known this long since before NBC bought Rotoworld, and have hung on for dear life since the day they started paying me to write about fantasy football. Like going to college in New Orleans, its something I struggled to initially believe was encouraged.
Now I’m headed to the Super Bowl, arriving in Phoenix late Sunday night. My first press box experience is going to be this game. That my hometown Patriots are in the game, with some history on the line, well … I’m going to shut up now before I get too obnoxious. I'll probably have to leave my Troy Brown throwback jersey behind.
Starting Monday morning, I will be here blogging about what its all like. What it’s like to be at the pressers, at the parties (the ones I can get into), the ridiculously contrived sponsored events, radio row, the media hotel. I will do my best to avoid conducting interviews similar to The Chris Farley Show (Remember, remember that time you found Troy Brown open over the middle … That was awesome).
I’ve been to Phoenix before, during an ambling cross country trip during college. I can’t remember much except that I couldn’t find anything open downtown after 8PM. It doesn’t matter. I’m not going to spend a week slamming the host city of a Super Bowl.
Maybe Super Bowl week isn’t all about the game, but it is the center of the football universe, one that I’m usually watching at home in gym shorts.
They could be playing this thing in the middle of Greenland and it would feel special as long as I could talk football all week and see Mike, the Mad Dog and Adam Schefter walking around the hotel lobby. Unlike the players, I can safely say I’m just happy to be here.

Good luck! What an honor and experience to be a part of it all. And you get lucky to see your Pats in the big game. The stadium is gorgeous, but you'll feel like its so far away from downtown that it should be in Nevada somewhere. Looking forward to your posts.

Gregg,
So your a big First Down Brown fan? He has had a special career here in NE but this looks to be his last hurrah. Given the year do you think he will suit up come game day? He didn't for GB in 96 and they lost. He has been in all the rest and well - good things.
Enjoy the fun and I will from here wearing my throw back Bruschi jersey.

I don't think Brown will be active since he hasn't been lately. Sentiment maybe got him on the roster, but he doesnt seem likely to be active.
