Cameron hire could be key to Ravens offseason

Firing Brian Billick was a quick way to create optimism in Baltimore. Hiring Cam Cameron as offensive coordinator was a great way to create fantasy points.
Ravens owners Steve Biscotti got the best of both worlds. He got the young, hungy, potentially inspiring young head coach to build around in John Harbaugh. Perhaps just as importantly, he got someone to fix his terminally broken offense.
Just one year ago, Cam Cameron was the hot offensive assistant, like Jason Garrett was this year. Cameron's milquetoast personality cooled his star during interviews some (he was a fallback choice by Miami), but he earned his initial buzz with a consistent offense in San Diego. Cameron may not be head coach material, but he is a proven coordinator.
Harbaugh's first act as head coach shows maturity. Instead of hiring another first timer, fellow Eagle assistant Pat Shurmur, he adds much needed experience to his offensive coaching staff. Less comfortable first-time coaches may have viewed Cameron as a threat.
Baltimore's offense is not that far away from being productive. They have a young, mean offensive line. They have a solid running back in Willis McGahee, who should benefit the most from Cameron's hiring. They have a competent, if unexciting, receiving group in Derrick Mason, Mark Clayton, and Demetrius Williams.
What's missing, of course, is the quarterback. Kyle Boller is a good backup, and Cameron needs to find someone else and develop him into a starter. He can't possibly do worse at it than Brian Billick.
