Patriot Media Day Awards

By now, you've seen what Media Day is all about. It's a cliche to talk about the insanity, and all the TV Azteca reporters in skimpy outfits, the dumb questions, the woman in the wedding dress.
My focus was getting sound and video for NBCSports.com which will be shown throughout the week.
That led to a few more goofball questions and fewer football ones than I'm completely comfortable with, but I look to Kevin Faulk for guidance. Know your role, and that's mine this year. Here's some awards on the Patriots side.
The Blue Comedian Award
Nick Kaczur, who had the raspiest voice I have ever heard, took great pride in the power and thickness of his goatee. He thought Belichick could grow a mean one. Still, he was disappointed that some of his fellow linemen like Russ Hochstein couldn't hang with him.
"I guess their balls haven't dropped yet."
Most Realistic
Patriots guard Dan Connolley on his Madden rating: "I'm 50, that's the lowest you can get."
Unsung Hero
The most common answer to this sort of question, by far, was Patriots safety James Sanders. His teammates think he's a future Pro Bowler.
Secret to their Success
Patriots punter Chris Hanson, asked the above question, waited a beat, then said, "The Team Mascot."
This was a pleasant surprise towards the end of a dry interview. Asked why Pat Patriot was so inspiring, Hanson said, "High Energy. Positive. Always has a smile on his face."
