Quarterback stock in Mobile

Watched a good chunk of Wednesday's Senior Bowl coverage, and it was predictably the best day for the offenses. The teams know the system better and just start playing. The South quarterbacks: Chad Henne, Joe Flacco, and John David Booty all helped themselves.

Help me help you

As much as I like watching Senior Bowl practices, I hope that next week is more interesting. As I mentioned here before, I'm heading down to the Super Bowl to pretend I'm a journalist and record the festivities starting Monday.

I'll be at Media Day (and some of the other pressers) with the rest of the unwashed masses, and am planning on focusing on the lesser known players. Guys you might get an interesting answer from. Guys who won't have many people around them.

I was thinking you could all help me do my job for me. Include some questions you'd like to see answered below (can specify the player if you want), and I'll try to ask some of the better ones next Tuesday. Best question gets a free Rotoworld draft guide next year.

Cameron hire could be key to Ravens offseason

Firing Brian Billick was a quick way to create optimism in Baltimore. Hiring Cam Cameron as offensive coordinator was a great way to create fantasy points.

Ravens owners Steve Biscotti got the best of both worlds. He got the young, hungy, potentially inspiring young head coach to build around in John Harbaugh. Perhaps just as importantly, he got someone to fix his terminally broken offense.

Graham could have staying power

Profootballtalk.com writes that there is a rumor making the rounds at the Senior Bowl that Carnell Williams' career could be over. This is similar to what Yahoo wrote in October, and the local writers aren't convinced Caddy will help the Bucs in 2008.

Williams blew out his patellar tendon, perhaps the worst injury for an NFL player. Cornerback Gary Baxter couldn't make it back to the Browns this season after the same injury, although he was trying to rehab two knees at the same time.

Senior Bowl Liveblog

Because I'm a glutton for writing things few people are interested in, let's do a last minute liveblog of today's afternoon Senior Bowl proceedings. No, I'm not actually there like our man Shawn in Mobile. But I can watch on television, and Mike Mayock will talk to me this way. My look at whether Chad Henne could be the number two quarterback in the draft is below.

After two days of televised North team practice, NFL Network is showing the South team this afternoon. During the season, I'm completely focused on the NFL. So this week is a chance for me to begin to go to school on the prospective draft picks. Here goes, refresh often.

Henne the number two QB?

It's important to find sources you can trust. I can't watch college tape, so it's best to pick the best Draft expert or three that you trust, and listen closely to what they have to say.

I've been a Mike Mayock guy since he debuted on NFL Network, and am still in the bag. No one is perfect, but I think he knows what the NFL looks for, isn't afraid to make his own opinion, and watches tons of tape to back it up. That's why I took serious note when Mayock surprisingly ranked Chad Henne his number two quarterback heading into this week. Here was his top five.

Alexander in denial

Listening to Shaun Alexander's radio appearance in Seattle Monday, it's obvious that he's a in a deep, deep denial about where his career is at. He would be shocked if the Seahawks approached him about re-doing his contract. We'd be shocked if they didn't. The only the way they won't approach Alexander is to cut him outright without asking.

The Real Star of WalkingBootGate

My favorite part of this picture isn't that Tom Brady is going to dinner without a walking boot after being seen in one earlier Monday. It's not that Brady is gracing my old neighborhood with his presence. It's the guy with the football on his head in the background.

Despite the ominous talk from some medical hack the NY Post quoted (never trust a "Dr. Rock"), Brady is in New York relaxing rather than getting treatment in Foxborough. That's the best sign possible that the Patriots aren't concerned with the injury.

Patriots find different ways to win

One thing I've said a lot this season is that I don't feel like this year's Patriots are that much better than the teams in 2003 and 2004. That's hardly a slight, just a recognition that those teams were great and that this one was fallible. The bonkers scores of the first half of the year were nice, but they couldn't last, and the defense had more weaknesses than usual.

The AFC Championship, perhaps their "ugliest" offensive game yet, was a good example of why they still get the nod as the best Patriots team ever - if they can beat the Giants.

Dungy returns for another season

Tony Dungy is returning to the Colts. The Colts say it's not necessarily for just one more season, although that seems likely. The situation is reminscent of Bill Cowher's final season in Pittsburgh, although Cowher didn't have a succession plan in place.

I can't think of a bigger story that has less fantasy impact. Whether Dungy stays or goes, the Colts offense is run by Tom Moore and Peyton Manning. That arragement will continue, whether Dungy or Jim Caldwell is the head coach.
