Alexander in denial

Listening to Shaun Alexander's radio appearance in Seattle Monday, it's obvious that he's a in a deep, deep denial about where his career is at. He would be shocked if the Seahawks approached him about re-doing his contract. We'd be shocked if they didn't. The only the way they won't approach Alexander is to cut him outright without asking.
He blames most of his struggles on his injuries this year. He says his broken bone in the first game of the season changed his whole year. And then puts a lot of blame on the offensive line. Alexander In the interview, Alexander makes it clear that he sees himself starting for the Seahawks next year. He doesn't take responsibility for his lackluster season. And he doesn't think Seattle needs to take a back high in the draft.
The Seattle Post-Intelligencer takes a long look at Alexander's diminishing production, and concludes that he should be released.
The Seahawks made a huge mistake by handing out a sentimental contract extension for Alexander after his MVP year. I'm pretty sure they won't compound it by keeping him past his expiration date.
