Top Five in 2008

I am struggling with the notion that the regular season (and my weekly routine) is over in eleven days, and trying to keep my eye on the ball. This is the most important week of the season for many of us lucky enough to still be playing. With that said, it's hard not to peek ahead with posts like this one in our forums.
I am going to crank out a Top-50 for next season after the regular season concludes, but here's my quick and dirty early top-five.
1. LT2
2. Peterson
3. Addai (Least downside of anyone)
4. Westbrook
5. Jackson
The big debate next season will be whether Tomlinson or Peterson should be the top pick. My gut says Peterson and my head says Tomlinson. With Peterson, I think you are buying the 10% chance that he breaks 2,000 yards or scores 30 touchdowns or cures cancer. He breaks all the rules. You are also buying a greater chance than LT that he gets hurt or is inconsistent because of his quarterback. I plan to change my mind on this top-five a few times, possibly by the end of the day.

I've already penciled in The Real One as the top selection in next years draft. The missed couple of games will definetly fuel the phantom "injury bug" argument and while that is a concern, it's no more so than with any other running back.
I can't think of anyone else jumping into the top 5 to knock out your selections, but I have to believe Westbrook and possibly SJAX could jump Addai by the time drafts roll around.

LT is the first pick, period. You don't gamble with the first pick, and LT is THE blue chip player. ESPECIALLY if Norv Turner is gone.

westbrook will be a training camp hold out. jeff lurie won't give him the money he deserves. but with mcnabb driven out of town and some shite QB ready to lead the iggles to another sub .500 season, they'll have to give him what he wants (ala larry johnson circa 2007).

The real question will be whether or not the likes of TO, Owens or the QBs break the top-12 in a more regular fashion, especially in ppr leagues (something we'll be doing for the first time next year).

Put my name in your top 5 or I will impregnate your mom, sister and wife.

Norv Turner is not going anywhere.

Gregg, stick with LT on top as good as AP is and will be he will have the Soph slump. Maybe in his case slump is too strong of a word, but people need to temper expectations for his 08 season. Trust me I benched Brady for Hasselback last week. In 2009 he will rise as the one and only Purple Jesus and permanently displace LT!
