Belichick, the comedian
Watch enough Bill Belichick press conferences and you might learn something if you wade beyond the bland.
1. Get him talking about NFL history, and he lights up like a Christmas Tree.
2. Ask him a well-researched question and he may give you a decent answer.
3. He's a lot funnier and sarcastic than he's given credit for.
From yesterday's press conference ...
Q: What makes this rivalry special?
Belichick: It hasn’t been that special the last three times we’ve played them.
Q: Do you have any time to trick or treat tonight?
Belichick: That’d be a game-time decision.

Our second-ranked team blog had some interesting questions about job security to Mike Nolan earlier in the week. That led to this excellent post about reportage in general.

The rankings are up. This week, I did a look back at the season so far, and looked ahead to the second half. I'll get some Week 9 thoughts up here this afternoon.

Gregg,
What's up with your ranking of the Saints "D". The Saints defense has completely turned it around. The Saints have done it with a really tough rush defense. They've allowed the fewest fantasy points to opposing rushers over the last five weeks; check out their last four games: Frank Gore, 41 yards; Warrick Dunn and Jerious Norwood, 66 combined yards; Shaun Alexander, 35 yards; DeShaun Foster, 59 yards. You have to beat them via the air, and can you honestly say that Quinn Gray can do that?

yeah but other than gore (who isn't rushing well against anyone right now) that list of rb's is weak.
dunn and norwood are doing squat on a horrible team, s-alex is past his prime, and no one wants to win the backfield battle in carolina.
no, quinn gray can't do it, but he won't have to, b/c the fragile one and mjd will take care of it for him.

Tfram is just bitter because the Saints made his boy Stephany Alexander look like a bitch.
oh wait, she is.
