Typical Alexander
The Monday Morning Afters are up, with most of my thoughts on the Week 7 action.
I touched on Shaun Alexander's struggles briefly, but wanted to mention the conversation he had with Mike Holmgren on the sideline late in the game. It's what used to make Alexander a great fantasy option, but an overrated NFL player.
Alexander was frustrated by his personal struggles (19-41-0) despite the blowout Seattle win. He wanted to get back into the game to pad his stats in garbage time instead of resting. This was about his numbers, not about helping the team to win.
Alexander has 107 rushing yards (2.4 per-carry) over the last three weeks. Mike Holmgren doesn't have a lot of options in the rushing game, but you can bet he'll examine them closely in the bye week. I bet this is Alexander's last year as a primary carrier. What do you think?

I owned Alexander in a keeper league for most of his career. Last year, preseason, I reviewed his year by year stats and hurried up and traded him for two first round picks. He is old for a RB and over the last few years has had too many touches. Combine that with his lingering injury issues and you come up with an ex-stud hanging on. Look for Alvin Pearman to get a shot at No. 1 RB next year.

Last game of the season as a primary carrier? Not a chance, there just isn't anyone there to step up. Next year...thats another story all together.

So glad I was able trade away Alexander before the Stl. game, while he still had "some" value. Now he has RB2/3 value after sub-50yd, No td games vs. N.O & Stl....even with a lot of carries. I had to throw Houshmandzadeh into the deal but got back Gore/MJD/H.Ward so at least I have some hope of salvaging my season. Note: just traded MJD+Driver for Roy Williams. I'm rolling the dice on Gore/Williams to come back.
