Taylor/McKinnie Trade unlikely
Judging by Aaron Gleeman's chat, Fantasy Nation is abuzz with the Chester Taylor/Bryant McKinnie deal that the Tampa Tribune mentioned this morning.
Let's make one thing clear: There is little-to-no chance the Vikings would deal a quality young tackle like McKinnie. And it's highly unlikely they'd trade Taylor during the season, even if that deal makes more sense because of Adrian Peterson.
If any team was going to make a blockbuster deal for a veteran, though, Tampa would be it. The whole franchise is in win-now mode and they always favor experienced players. That said, Brad Childress doesn't have great job security either and these sorts of deals almost never happen.
As a Michael Pittman owner, I'm not thrilled to hear these rumors. I'm surprised they feel it necessary to upgrade to a similar back. I'm also confident the Vikings aren't ready to give up on 2007, so a deal is still unlikely.

Why would you give up such a valuable commodity as a young T and your only (good) veteran RB. Unless they get Joe Montana, John Elway or Dan Marino in return on this trade I say its dead issue. Even if Tampa gives up picks it doesnt make sense.
All this talk makes the Corey Dillon story much more believable.
Its so desperate sounding and suddenly that Colts -10 line is looking better and better this weekend.

You seem to be on the fence as to whether MN or TB should or will enter into such a trade. You also seem to be on the fence as to whether fantasy owners should p/u Graham or Pittman now that Cadillac is gone for the season. Perhaps is your judgment influenced by your ownership of Pittman?

I don't know about any fences... but if anyone thinks the Vikes make that deal (especially including franchise left tackle McKinnie) they are smoking something.
The article was clearly wishful thinking on the part of a desperate Tampa writer.

As a Vikings fan, I was quite intrigued when I first heard these rumors. McKinnie is talented, but overrated. Like most Vikings fans and all fantasy players, I'm curious to see what AP would do on his own. Sadly, I'm already ready to give up on this season. If the Bucs give us enough in return, I'd like the deal to get done.

I'm a Vikings fan as well and the only thing of value the Bucs would part with would be draft picks. They have very little young talent (except a couple offensive linemen whom they couldn't part with).
I too have no problem with the Vikes dealing Taylor. He is a 3rd down back at best going forward. But I'd prefer to keep our left tackle unless the Bucs offer up a couple 1st round picks.

hey carp...
i'll bet your right. i'll bet gregg is letting his ownership of a backup running back in a low paying fantasy league affect the way he performs his dream job with an NBC affiliated website.
good call dude.

Well the Vikings have already said they won't make that deal, although Mewelde Moore is possible.
Makes more sense for both sides - I'd love to see Moore get a bigger role.
