in my opinion, the fantasy MVP almost has to be someone from later in the draft. fantasy value is different than "real" NFL value, and having your 1st/2nd round picks perform well isn't really fantasy value.
most all of those guys were consensus 1st-3rd rd. picks that were/are expected to perform at a high level.
of that list for me it has to be edwards or peterson. in all my drafts peterson went in the 4th or later, and edwards in the 6th or later.
1st round performance for the price of a 6th? that's your most valuable.

Hey Gregg, Maybe you can add other categories such as:
1) Comeback Fantasy Player of the Year:
QB: Vinny Testaverde?
RB: Mewelde Moore? (assuming he starts for Tampa and does well?)
WR: Shaun McDonald?
TE: Bubba Franks?
2) Fantasy Rookie of the Year
QB: Adrian Peterson
WR: Dwayne Bowe
RB: Adrian Peterson
TE: Adrian Peterson
K: Adrian Peterson
3) Fantasy Off-The-Bench Player of the Year
QB: Cleo Lemon?
QB: Vinny Testaverde?
RB: Kenton Keith?
RB: Jerome Harrison?
RB: Michael Turner?
RB: Najeh Davenport?
WR: Calvin Johnson?
WR: Bobby Engram?
WR: Kevin Walter?
Maurice Jones-Drew probably excluded from this category as he just may end up with more carries on the season than Fred Taylor. Anything is possible.

How can you not have Marion Barber in your top 10?!?!
(That's a joke that a few people will get)
Jeff - what exactly is Shaun McDonald "coming back" to or from? I do like your idea for an award for RBs that assumes they go to another team and do well.

when you have a later round pick that vastly outperforms expectations, the performance of your first round pick is far less important.
my team in a 14 team league, i drafted in this order:
s. jackson, c. palmer, a. gates, c. portis, d. branch, b. edwards
my first 2 picks (aside from palmer's 6 TD game) have been mediocre to nonexistent.
but because i got great values in rounds 3, 4 and 6, my team is 8-2 (about to be 9-3, we play 2 matchups a week).
the guy with brady and tomlinson is going to be 6-6 (however he did just slaughter me this week, despite my team having the 2nd highest score).
but i can definitely agree to disagree on this point. to me, getting a beastly player in the 6th round is much more valuable than getting a good player in the 1st.

I disagree with Dox - getting first round value from your first round pick is not that easy. Addai has given his owners a great lift, basically by not being Steven Jackson or LJ or Gore or Alexander or Rudi or Henry or Bush or McGahee. I'd much rather get first round value from my first round pick than, say, third round value from my #6 (Edwards) or fourth round value from my #18 (Crayton)...
Okay, never mind - I just looked at Edwards' numbers. Wow. The general point still stands ;)
