More fun with targets

While I wrap up my fun with targets afternoon, try this blind taste test of the target leaders from surprising NFC team.

Player One: 20 targets, 15 catches, 245 yards, 0 TD
Player Two: 19 targets, 14 catches, 256 yards, 2 TD

Player two definitely gets an edge with the scores, but otherwise they are as even as can be. Can you guess who they are?

Player one is Ike Hilliard and player two is Joey Galloway. Hilliard probably can't keep this up, but the numbers indicate that I should probably rank him this week in Goal Line Stand.

The numbers also tell me that the Bucs are efficient passing the ball, but they don't overly feature their wideouts; Michael Pittman and Alex Smith are close with 16 targets. They also aren't throwing the ball much as a team.

Tampa is 29th in pass attempts and fourth in rushing attempts, numbers that should help dispel Jon Gruden's repuation as a pass-first coach. He's happy to run the ball like crazy if the Bucs are winning. And with that, I'm gone until tomorrow. Thanks for stopping by.

Hey Gregg--

Comment completely unrelated to this post (sorry), but I was curious as to how you have Shaun Alexander ranked so high this week in the Stand. The Pittsburgh rush d has been great so far and Alexander hasn't done much against one good rush defense and mostly bad ones.

I don't see how he's a top 10 back this week and am considering benching him and play Derrick Mason at the flex (if he plays) over Shaun... Am I insane?

Gregg - Randle El only up to 43 with Santana Moss out?!?!

The Lions are giving up points and yardage in bunches, and Randle El has been good this year, getting a good amount of targets even with Moss in there. With no Moss and two guys that joined the team after the season started at the other WR spots (Caldwell and McCardell), I think Randle El is the sleeper of the week! He's gotta be top 20.

i concur, Tony, as usual.

he's one of my 100KFC picks this week.

and yeah, Anon, playing derrick mason as a flex over shaun alexander is quite insane.

alexander is guaranteed to get 20 touches. mason isn't even guaranteed to play at this point, and even is he does, will get less than half the opportunites alexander does.

not to mention the ravens anemic offense. alexander has a much better shot at a TD.

gah! o' henry!??!

had a chance to grab selvin young in 2 leagues yesterday and decided my roster was fine.

now 2 other idiots own him (neither travis henry owners, i might add). and all because i didn't want to cut julius jones. argh.

basically, what i'm gathering from this is that travis henry is the new ricky williams.

With about 8 more children by 8 more mothers...

Yeah, good point Stephen.

Hitting the spliff doesn't feed 8 mouths unfortunatly...

But it does make you hungry...
