Hello Wednesday

Wednesday is my favorite work day of the regular week. I get up early, and watch as many of the Shortcuts from Sunday Ticket as possible around doing the rest of my work.

I ran into one problem today: I forgot to Tivo all the games, surprisingly for the first time ever. Anyhow, it looks like I'll be watching a lot of Week 3, which isn't so bad. Let me know some of the teams you'd like focused on in Goal Line Stand or covered here.

This morning's big news (until Marc Bulger broke while I'm typing this more on that later) is more bad news for Alex Smith. He may miss the season after shoulder surgery. Smith came into this season with so much promise. He's only five months older than Brady Quinn but his future in the NFL now looks precarious after serious shoulder surgery and a slow start to the year. The 49ers may have to bring in real competition for him next year.

The new Fantasy Fix is up.

Gregg -

I have a question about your weekly Goal Line Stand rankings. Can you use those to compare RB's and WR's in making a decision on a flex position? For example, is your 15th ranked WR a better play than your 16th ranked RB?

Thanks.

It's hard to compare. We do have projections in our Season Pass, and that makes it easier to compare.

Gregg - didn't you tier each week's first draft of the goal line stand last year?

I thought the tiering was terrific and that would answer questions such as these.

I cannot decide on using Ronnie Brown vs texans, Reggie Bush vs Panthers, or Willie Parker vs Seahawks. I also have Brandon Jacobs, but no news yay or nay there yet.

Its amazing how a guy can go from a potent spread (shotgun) offense in college to robotic and restrained in the NFL. The Niners (specifically Nolan) do not trust this guy to make plays except with his feet under pressure. In the words of Pearl Jam...."drop the leash, we are young". Why draft him and then make him a carbon copy of Trent Dilfer?

Now he gets sat on by an elephant and will have to start all over next year. The good news is they can probably get Norv Turner back as offensive coordinator next year.
