Apropos of Nothing

Here are two of my favorite lines of the week.

From Mike Preston's Ravens mailbag:

Mike, there's no doubt Kyle Boller's one of the better backups in the league, but he just doesn't seem to have the confidence or the head to lead the team as a starter. With Steve McNair showing his age, do you think the Ravens will pursue another quarterback in the offseason?

Mike Preston: They better, because all the other teams in the AFC North have proven quarterbacks, or quarterbacks of the future on their rosters. In Baltimore, the Ravens have one quarterback who is physically challenged and one that is mentally challenged. Together, McBoller is a fairly decent quarterback.

Long live McBoller.

From Dr. Z's power rankings, his take on the Jaguars:

One of my tape specials last weekend was Jacksonville-Houston, figuring it would give me added insight for handicapping Jags-Colts. I hate to admit this, but I actually fell asleep during the thing. "Snoring, too!" adds La Vie en Rose. I'm sorry, but I just couldn't help it. Once you get past the fireworks of Maurice Jones-Drew, all you've got is a collection of seven-feet tall wideouts catching 5-yard passes.

Couldn't agree more. Jack Del Rio has built his perfect team.

Troy Smith isn't the future? I mean isn't that why Baltimore drafted him, as a project QB? What's the point in drafting someone if you don't have confidence that they can't someday play the game.

If they had confidence in Troy Smith they would have drafted him in the first or second round.

Is your position that they should be perfectly satisfied with Smith as their QB of the future, and shouldn't bother looking for a QB in the offseason?

Which 2 RB's should I play this week? I have to choose between Brian Leonard vs SEA, Barber vs Minn, and Lynch vs Balt.

Thanks!

I'm with Kurt. Smith has a shot, but you can't pin your hopes on him.

Gregg,
I follow fantasy football - my 4 teams. I read much on the web from experts. I've grown to respect your opinions. You obviously work hard. I wanted to give you a compliment - hope you read this! Good work.

McBoller...

EFFING priceless!

In response to earlier, they have Boller for at least another year, that gives the FO plenty of time to figure out whether they wasted a 5th round pick on Troy or not. The Ravens have 1 old guy, 1 young(ish) guy in Boller (who could gain some by having the starting job for more than just a day-to-day basis) and a really young talented guy who might or might not make it depending on himself and his own desire to be good/great. I think their QB position is pretty solid as long as the QB doesn't have a lot of turnovers.
