Alexander the Mediocre

Shaun Alexander's yards-per-carry: 3.7. Ugh.

Shaun Alexander's yards-per-catch: 3.7. Goo!

There are a lot of ways to quantify Alexander's decline. FO's Doug Farrar says the explosion is just gone.

Alexander has never been good in the passing game, but I think his numbers there over the last two years tell a story. 22 catches and an unheard of 3.86 yards-per-catch.

Players generally have more room to run after they catch they ball. But when Alexander is in the open field these days, it doesn't stay open for long. An average that low tells me Alexander just isn't making plays on his own. And now that his offensive line is average, so are his overall numbers.

There are a lot of backs fantasy owners to buy low on right now. Alexander is not one that I would target.

This may not be the place, but I need some help. Who do I grab out of the following WR's?.. I have 5 players on a bye, so these are my unfortuinate choices for this week. Who is the best WR options for this week?

Currey, Porter, Northcut, Booker.

I have a feeling Booker will find the endzone against the terrible Cleveland D. Porter and Currey are kind of like rolling the dice...what do u guys think?
Thanks

Ive never enjoyed watching Alexander run. I swear, I think he just kinda quit when he finally got that huge contract.

Hey Gregg, Jon here.

I found Matt Pitzer's Halftime Adjustements column on QBs really insightful. I'd like more information on the other QB prospects not currently starting.

For instance,I think that Kyle Boller could finally be a worthy fantasy QB if and when McNair goes down. What can we expect from Alex Smith once he and Vernon Davis gets back?

I've got a strong team except for the QB position so I'm trying to look ahead and find this year's Tony Romo.

Thanks!

hey gregg, could you please post an update to your "top 10 running backs" post as of today? with the changes for guys like steven jackson, larry johnson, and many others, it would be really helpful for trade purposes to see your thoughts. it would also be great if you could expand to 15 or so....

thanks!

It's also getting near that time of year when people should consider trading their players with bad playoff matchups for players with good playoff matchups, as the trade deadline is approaching for some leagues.

Any insight on that in the next couple weeks Gregg?

Ronnie Brown is the top rated back right now, but he gets Baltimore in Week 15. Benson gets Minnesota that week. Schaub and A Johnson against the Denver DBs could be tough. Phillip Rivers may come on the cheap and he gets Detroit Week 15. Favre and Driver vs the Rams looks nice. McGahee vs the Dolphins run defense too. Et cetera.

Sucks to go 12-2 in the regular season, then lose the first round of the playoffs due to bad matchups.

Gregg,
I have a real tough call at the RB position for Week 6. Need to pick two of these RB's in a PPR league:
Watson (Cin), Harris (Clev), Jacobs (Gia), Ward (Gia), Bell (Det)
Any info. would be appreciated!!

No LJ Smith on the weekly TE rankings? He's expected to play isn't he?
