49ers in reverse

The 49ers passing game is currently worse (in YPA) than Alex Smith's rookie year, when the four-headed monster of Smith/Rattay/Pickett/Dorsey was making some defense's day on a weekly basis. San Francisco is dead last in YPA at 5.0.
There are many reasons for the decline. Vernon Davis was quiet, then got hurt. Darrell Jackson is making the Seahawks look like they knew what they were doing. The offensive line has surprisingly collapsed. And now Smith is hurt, with Trent Dilfer managing to play even worse last week.
Fantasy leaguers expecting WR3 production from Darrell Jackson need to re-adjust their thinking. I wouldn't drop him, but I wouldn't start him either. Frank Gore is currently the RB14, as his rushing average and receiving numbers have plummeted. His numbers are mostly because of the inept passing game, which shows no signs of breaking out of their slump. Gore will improve because of his talent (his day against Seattle was encouraging, fumbles not withstanding), but his explosive games may take time.
I thought the Norv Turner factor in San Francisco was overrated, but they really appear to be missing him. Lucky for the 49ers, Turner may be looking for work again soon.

i actually like dilfer in this lineup with a little time to prep.
baltimore's pass defense isn't the scary monster that it used to be.
i think dilfer comes in and manages the game, minimizing the mistakes.
that said, the only one with any significat fantasy value is gore (until davis returns, anyways). they'd better figure out a way quickly to get the ball to gore 40 times a game.

It's going to be a long year in SF in my opinion.
SF's O-line is brutal & teams have figured out how to slow down Gore.
Dilfer may be able to manage a game but when he's on his back or scrambling for his life does it really matter?

SF is going nowhere fast.
The D is improved, but
they'll be worn down by
wk-10 at this rate.
The 9'ers will be lucky to
match last year's 7-9
record. Very lucky.

i'm probably trying to look at it through rose colored glasses because i own gore.
but can dilfer really be THAT much worse than smith?

I need some trade help in a PPR league.
I have been offered:
Gore / Colston
for
Peterson (Min) / Welker

kory... don't do it.
this owner's trying to buy low.
i would trust that both gore and colston are going to bounce back for you, while peterson sees some of his carries be lost to chet.

Matt - I think you have this backwards. If I'm reading his post correctly, he's been OFFERED Gore and Colston.
Kory - Do the trade. And fyi there is a chat board where start/sit and trade questions are answered.
