Who's your top running back now?

If you had a league starting this week, how would you rank your top ten running backs and receivers? I'm not asking what you would have done three weeks ago. You don't get LaMont Jordan's fast start, only his next 13 games. Here's how I'd go.

1. LaDainian Tomlinson - Hard part of schedule is mostly over.
2. Joseph Addai - Safer than safe.
3. Frank Gore - I still believe.
4. Brian Westbrook - Minor injuries a minor concern.
5. Willie Parker - Improvements haven't totally shown up in box scores, but they will.
6. Clinton Portis - Injury/Betts concerns were overblown.
7. Larry Johnson - Tough part of schedule is mostly over, but injury risk remains.
8. Travis Henry - Everything has gone as expected thus far.
9. Shaun Alexander - About what we expected.
10 (tie). Willis McGahee - Unremarkably consistent.
10. LaMont Jordan - Dominic Rhodes will be less of a threat than people think.

To be honest, the first ten are a lot easier to rank than the next ten would be. Ronnie Brown, Steven Jackson, Rudi Johnson, Reggie Bush, Carnell Williams, Brandon Jacobs and Laurence Maroney were among the backs not making the cut here. So what's your list?

I may expand this idea into a larger column later, so forgive me if you see it in some form again. We'll do receivers tomorrow.

My two starting backs on my team (not ppr league by the way) are Edge and Rudi...Do you think this is the right time to trade either one and what would be a fair trade for a Rudi and Bulger package? (keep in mind my league is afraid to even talk about trading, each year maybe 2 trades go down)

Lord, I thought the trades were bad in my league, I can't believe some of the trades I am seeing.

Jordan and Housh for Parker and Holmes in a PPR league.
Either one of these guys is going to probably out catch both Parker and Holmes. Housh, year after year puts up good numbers. I would never go for this trade. Unless I was getting Jordan and Housh. Then I'd love to get it.

1 Lamont Jordan
2 Clinton Portis
3 Julius Jones
4 Maurice Jones-Drew
5 Jerious Norwood

. . . Ok! Ok! Geeze! I am being completely biased with the BACKS I drafted, because I can:-)....

All I know is I have MBIII and Joseph Addai, and in my league... Marion the Barbarian has outscored him each week.

Gregg, you are one of the better analysts out there but MBIII is top 10 easily, RBBC situation notwithstanding and Im pleased to see so many agree with what I see as I just traded Alexander for the Barber (+Calvin J). Fact is MBIII is the man in Dallas. JJ is out next year, he isnt as strong and with the passing offense that Dallas has, nobody can key on Barber in the red zone. Look at his production last year down the stretch. It aint no fluke, not a short trend,he's the real deal and its time to recognize!
Keep up the good work :>

wheres adrian peterson

i think fred taylor or adrian peterson should make the top 20 at least.
