Defense pickups
Welcome to the first ever fantasy football blog written from the back of a speeding cab. In a move that will sound all too familiar to those who know me, I'm running into some issues on the way to the airport today. On the train back to New York City from Connecticut (where we tape the Fantasy Fix), I left a suitcase on the train while spacily departing (I had been editing some Rotoworld stuff. All for the people!).
Anyhow, it's nearly an hour later, I retrieved my bag after heading downtown and convincing a cleaning man to let me into the train, and I'm only ten minutes away from getting back to where I started. And the cabbie keeps yelling "That's so lame man" at the drivers in front of us. Add it all up, and I'm 50-50 to make the plane at best - Good times!
Anyhow, none of you really care - let's make lemonade.

One question I get every week each week is from owners looking for a defense to pick up. Last week, I went with Oakland and Houston. One out of two there, although Oakland had some glory stats.
This week, I like the Bengals facing the Browns. Evan Silva had Cincy ranked as starter-worthy fantasy defense before the season because they tend to force turnovers. More should be forthcoming against Cleveland.
The Packers went undrafted in a lot of leagues, but I see them as a top-ten defense. They should beat up on Jared Lorenzen.
Finally, the Chiefs are a sneaky play against the flying Grossmans.

Is anybody else out there hoarding defenses? I feel like every season a couple new teams emerge as legitimate defenses. Last year there was absolutely zero hype about Minnesota for example. I can faintly remember when Chicago wasn't even considered a top 5 D and then has skyrocketed to top 8 round pick status.
Anyway, I'm wondering what D you think might be one under the radar this year. I liked what I saw in Indy against one of the best offenses in the league. Anybody think Indy D could be legit this year?

Would you start Baltimore hosting the Jets or Cincy @ the Browns?

I still think MIN is under the radar a bit.
GB also fits into that category I think.
Any defense that gets to play Grossman, Kitna & Tavaris Jackson twice has a chance to get some decent points.

Indy has what looks to be at this time an excellent schedule for the D come playoff time and a little earlier. Weeks 11-16 = KC, Atlanta, Jacksonville, Baltimore, Oakland, Houston.
If for some reason you play seventeen weeks, they've got Tennesse then. Rally can't say if they are as good as that New Orleans game, but its hard to top that schedule.

HT, go with Baltimore versus the Jets. With or without Ray Lewis, it's Kellen Clemons' first start, plus Thomas Jones is banged up. You saw what the Patriots did againt New York; think more of the same from the Ravens. Plus, they're pissed about losing last week.
