Could Losman injury be a good thing for Bills?

J.P. Losman's knee injury couldn't have come at a worse time for the fourth-year QB. Coming off two of the worst starts of his career (which is saying a lot), Losman's status as the future of the Bills franchise was already being called into question. His play on the field was poor, but throwing his coaches under the bus was worse. Losman accepted very little blame for his play, and the pressers brought back memories of his immature days at Tulane University when "his" offense was divided into warring factions.

Losman now has to watch third-round pick Trent Edwards get an extended audition as the next Bills quarterback of the future. Edwards struggled against the Patriots like any rookie would, but perhaps he can show something against some questionable defenses the next two weeks (Jets, Cowboys). A few decent outings would go a long way towards helping the front office to decide late in the season that getting Edwards experience is the best way to move forward. And if Edwards doesn't work out, some message board posters are already asking the inevitable question in Buffalo: Who will be the first pick in the draft?.

What does this mean for Marshawn Lynch? I just traded away Andre Johnson, Jon Kitna and Clinton Portis for McNabb, Larry Johnson and Marshawn Lynch. Bad move? I thought high risk, but potentially very high gain, no?

I keep hearing how this will kill the potential for Lynch but Lynch has had 50 yards at the half against Pittsburgh and New England the last two weeks and ended up with a respectable game in each after his team abandoned the run.

You wont find a bigger fan of Lynch (also a Cal fan) and mark my word that he will be a top 10 back this year when all is said and done. Just watch what he does to the Jets this weekend.

In my opinion he should have been taken by the Vikings instead of Peterson and you would be talking about the top 5 back this year with a defense that could keep him in games. Start him every week even unless they trade for Grossman.....then he is screwed.

This brought to you by the Marshawn Lynch for the Heisman foundation.

When you talk about Marshawn Lynch, he was a very productive college running back in the Pac 10. He is an equally capable receiver out of the backfield as he is a runner.

But by all accounts he was a reach at the #12 pick in the draft and his status as an everydown back in the NFL is still up for debate.

Top 10 is a stretch, but I agree Lynch can survive the Edwards move. He's going to be a solid RB2 when the season is up.

I think the offense will be better without JP. It will be simplified a bit and Lynch should definately get more touches as will Dwayne Wright.

JP should have been comfortable with the offense but apparently he looked as though he had too much on his plate. Unfortunately the defense has lost to many players to injury and will suffer.
