Worst Draft Decision Ever?

Last Thursday, I witnessed the worst fantasy football draft decision I've ever seen. It happened in a league that I'm participating in for work. Tiffany Simons, Superhuman Intern David Bandermark, and I are representing NBCSports.com in the league.

It's the tenth and eleventh round turn, and one of the teams that is run by people that don't read Rotoworld is on the clock. With their first pick, the team takes Nate Kaeding. Groans erupt from the crowd. Way too early from a kicker.

Then the unthinkable happens. With their next pick, they take ... (drumroll) ... Jeff Wilkins. Silence. Shudders. Bile.

I didn't know whether to laugh, cry, throw something at the owners, or light up a cigar.

After much debate, the owners have been allowed to stay in the league and are recovering well.

It got me thinking: What's the worst decision/moment you've ever seen at a draft?

Oh god. We had a live draft this weekend.

Someone couldn't make it and on last notice we got a replacement. The guy was a complete newb and had no idea what he was doing.

He's a huge Steelers homer and had the first pick and demanded Big Ben. The entire league pleaded with him to take LT. It was the first time I actually tried to *help* someone during a draft. He said some nonsensical crap like "I think LT is overrated and he'll probably get hurt"

So Ben Roethlisberger was the #1 overall pick. I ended up getting Larry Johnson at #6 overall, after LT, SJAX, Gore, and Alexander.

Even my drunk friend who was only there to drink a ton of beer and write down all the picks on the draft board was like "dumbass"

JJ Arrington in Round 2 a couple of years ago. Same guy took Willie Parker in the second round in a different year. That one actually worked out for him, but he could have gotten him in the 12th round that year.

With 20/20 hindsight, Caddy Williams at #11 last year over Willie Parker.

We had a guy recently who took P. Manning with his first pick(#6), which I personally think is a bad move...that was kinda bad, but then later he took Keyshawn Johnson.

Nothing I've read above even compares to the worst. I was in a league years ago where a guy drafted a kicker in the 1st round (I think it was Al Del Greco). He explained his pick with the logic that kickers score the most points in the NFL.

Live draft last weekend - 12 teams. Peerless Price in the 9th round.

Last year, same league, same owner - Tatum Bell in the first round. Somehow, he still ended the top seed going into the playoffs. I died a little on the inside.
