Rex's little helpers
Not a good sign for the Bears when the Chicago Sun-Times' lead football article Wednesday morning is about fifth-graders giving Rex Grossman advice about taking snaps from center.
''It's very easy to take snaps,'' said fifth-grader Jimmy Smolik, 10, a quarterback for the St. Linus Hawks in Oak Lawn. ''Just open your hands and wait for the ball, and then you close your hands.''
But Rex could learn a thing or two from coach Daniel Terrini, who helps coach 8- and 9-year-olds on the Wheaton Rams.
"We tell our quarterback to make sure he gets his hands under the center’s butt."
Hat tip to Rotoworld staffer Pat Dahl, who is working hard to overcome a rough afternoon for his Rookie of the Year candidacy.

I love all the people putting down rex as he has just fell into the free agent market! I snatched him up right away. Perfect bye week replacement for brees! He messes up alot. He was the number 12 in points last season though. There offense has gotten better with new tight end and hester in there. I just do not think he deserves all this criticism. He did put them in playoffs and go to the superbowl. Everyone looks at the bad with this guy. He will have better stats this season than last and will be better with more weapons. I am a pats fan so no bia's here. But to much negatives on this guy. He is a good QB. Great number 2! He could be the starter on some teams in my league. Why isn't anyone saying how bad lynch is doing in buffalo! He had 9 carries for 9 yards. They say well joseph addai had a bad preseason 2. Talk about to much hype every year for players. If lynch keeps running like this he will be third down back! Give rex a break they still won the game. That is what matters and he was 5-7 with 67 yards. He is a good QB and will be in the top 12!
