LenDale better hurry up
LenDale White is one of Rotoworld's favorite value plays this season, but he's missing practices at a bad time. White has been out for more than a week, and Titans RB coach Sherman Smith threw down the gauntlet Monday, challenging White to get back on the field. Missing practices wouldn't be a huge deal for a veteran, but it's a consistent problem for White as a pro.
"I think it’s starting to clear itself out. We’ve had two preseason games, and LenDale hasn’t played in one of them," Smith said.
White didn't return Tuesday, although Titans coach Jeff Fisher did express hope that White could return Wednesday and possibly start Friday's game. Fisher also cautioned that this week's starter isn't necessarily the Week 1 starter. In the end, the two coaches may be playing a little good cop/bad cop. Smith doesn't decide who the starter is, Fisher does. Perhaps White has read that he's the favorite to start, and they feel he's getting too comfortable.
Whatever the case, it would serve White well to get back on the field Wednesday. I am still confident he'll lead the Titans in carries this season, but Chris Brown is the likely Week 1 starter if White doesn't play Friday.
