Good news for Thomas Jones, Willie Parker

Most training camp injuries are long forgotten by October. I suspect that will be the case with the injuries to Willie Parker and Thomas Jones.

Parker is healthy enough to play the final three preseason games for Pittsburgh. Missing a few weeks of practice in August certainly doesn't affect his projection. We did move Joseph Addai ahead of Parker recently for the fifth spot on our draft board, but that was only because Addai has such little downside.

Goodbye, Michael Vick?

It's amazing how fast we move on in sports. Especially fantasy sports. Sometime around Michael Vick's indictment, when it became clear that he wasn't playing again soon, my passion regarding Vick's legal case began to wane. I still updated the story for the news, but there were more important things to worry about: Like Joey Harrington's affect on the offense and Warrick Dunn's back surgery.

I love football because I love what goes on the field. I know some of the players are bad apples, just like in the rest of life. I don't know these men, never did, so it's easy to move on.

Running Back Preview

The second installment in the Fix's season preview is up. This time, we rank the top 50 running backs.

Matt Jones' Light: Still Off

With a week's worth of Fantasy Fix's in the can, I'm staying home in New York more than usual this week and breaking in my new HD DVR. Best use of wedding money possible.

I can never find enough time to watch as much tape as I'd like, but I'm taking some notes from the preseason games that I may post here later. First, a Matt Jones sequence I couldn't pass up. Jones didn't start the game (Ernest Wilford and Dennis Northcutt did), and played exclusively out of the slot.

Kinda like Mel Gibson and Danny Glover

Oh, to be in the stands in Philadelphia on September 17th if James Thrash and Todd Pinkston are playing together for the Redskins that day.

Fix Season Preview: QBs

We're rolling out Season Preview on the Fix all week long. Today, Tiffany and I talk quarterbacks. Our producers worked hard on making this one look fancy, so take a look.

Kenny Watson Redux

In my quest to continue writing about backup running backs no one really cares about, let's revisit last week's draft guide adjustment on Kenny Watson.

My original fixes look optimistic in retrospect, especially after reading that Quincy Wilson may be first in line to see an increased role.

Warrick Dunn recovers quickly

Give Warrick Dunn credit. With a new coaching staff in place and Jerious Norwood impressing, Dunn knew that his recent back surgery put him on shaky ground.

He was already back at practice Monday, participating in all drills with the second team.
This gives him a chance.

Daily Dose and more

Read today's Dose, where I systematically eliminate a lot of possible blog material. (Since Aaron will do the Dose in-season, I don't see this as a huge long-term problem.)

And if that doesn't get you excited, perhaps this handsome picture of Max Jean-Gilles will. That was sent in by a reader that will remain nameless (okay, a Rotoworld employee who has received too much bloglove lately). If you have any content tips, don't hesitate to email me at GRosenthal@Rotoworld.com.

Back with some running back updates in a bit.

Things we learned

Thanks for stopping by tonight. Anyone that is tuning into a preseason liveblog on August 12 is a true football fan. Or has a slightly unbalanced life. Here's what I learned ...

1. It's Legedu Naanee's world, we're just all living in it.

2. Do NOT call him Craig Davis. His name is Buster. Also do not expect him to avoid some usual first-game jitters.

3. Ben Obomanu is a name to keep in mind for deeep dynasty leagues.

4. Billy Volek is still partying like it's 2004.

5. Cris Collinsworth and Jerome Bettis know where to look for fantasy football.
