Could Greg Jones steal touchdowns?
Best news of my week: NBC hooked me up with a big ol' fancy television at my desk to help me work, especially on Sundays. While I write a few things for tomorrow, I have the Jaguars-Bucs preseason game on in front of me.
It gave me a chance to look at Greg Jones. My first impression: He looks like a guy coming off knee surgery. The good news for him, and bad for Maurice Jones-Drew: Jones got two straight carries inside the five-yard line with the first team.
Jones didn't score, though. On his next carry, Jones avoided slamming into the line, danced around, and then fumbled without getting hit hard. Luckily, Byron Leftwich recovered, and Jones bounced back to add runs of six and 17 yards, showing surprising speed to the outside on the second run.
It's only the preseason, but Maurice Jones-Drew owners should be concerned if Jones keeps getting these chances in the regular season.

On another note, I watched Ernest Wilford make three nice grabs and wondered if I'm missing the boat on Wilford as a post-hype sleeper. He's being ignored in drafts, but it looks like he's in the starting lineup to stay. If I had to set odds on the Jacksonville leader in receptions, Wilford has to be the favorite.

I think Dennis Northcutt is going to be a waiver wire gem before mid-season. He hasn't had a QB that can get him the ball the last few years, and Leftwich doesn't have any chemistry with any of his WRs from last year. Deep sleeper.

Hhmmm...the Greg Jones thing is interesting. With MJD's committee even bigger, I'm bumping him down a few notches in my rankings. I've seen people draft him in the first round!! That seems foolhardy right now, even in a PPR league I don't see him going before RD3 now. I guess you can hope that Fred Taylor gets hurt?
