Taking Top Tier Wideouts

So I had a quandry in my draft last night and asked for help. You guys came through huge.

After initially leaning towards grabbing Caddy and the highest ranked receiver left, I went WR-WR. Just like "J" and an anonymous reader suggested. IF I had decided to take Williams, it would have been with my second-round pick. I see Wayne and Harrison as interchangeable, and would not have anticipated the guy on the turn taking both.

I didn't take Williams because I just didn't see the value there. I trusted the Rotoworld board. I've been preaching that there isn't much difference between the 20th running back and the 30th this season, and Williams is at the top of the muddled tier. There is nothing muddled about Wayne and Harrison. There are practically risk-free and I felt that Williams and Lynch have similar question marks to the players that will be available later. In a league that starts three WRs, I will have a big edge starting two studs every week.

My goal was to get Wayne and Harrison, partly because they will provide consistency, but I wound up with Wayne and Larry Fitzgerald. I considered taking Harrison first (even though I have him ranked lower than Wayne) because I thought Wayne was more likely to slip. Sometimes, especially in these "industry" drafts, you can outsmart yourself. I didn't want to risk it. I took Wayne, the next guy took Harrison and Lynch.

We're now halfway through the fourth round, Caddy went at 3.11, and we're deep into a wideout run that includes guys like Hines Ward. I feel good about my decision. I want to hit more doubles this year than always going for home runs. I like Williams, but not that early becaues of his risk. I'd rather anticipate runs than react to them. There may be some interesting running backs on the board when I pick again. I'll let you guys know when I'm on the clock again.

Good call Gregg...that's what I've been telling my buddies this year: I'm going for safe & solid early regardless of position (no more Ronnie Brown in the first round crap for me!)
You would have hated yourself if you took Caddy or Lynch there.

what do you guys think of this trade:

It is the first draft of a dynasty league. I give the 1.02 and the 4.02 for the 1.01 and the 5.12

It is really hard to accept but LT in a dynasty league with Turner coaching him sounds so good.

Yea, excellent strategy with the "doubles" thing...always works great for me. You are Greg Belichick...dont go drafting Troy Brown, though.
