Mock Draft: You decide (again)
I'm just about to be on the clock again in rounds 6 and 7 of the industry draft I've been writing about over the last week. My team thus far...
QB: Donovan McNabb
RB: Steven Jackson, Jerious Norwood
WR: Larry Fitzgerald, Reggie Wayne
This is a 14-team league, no points-per-reception, 2 RB, 3 WR, no flex player. I thought I was about to have a tough decision, but three of my favorite value picks just came off the board in a row (Brandon Jackson, Vincent Jackson, Jerricho Cotchery) were just taken off the board before I'm up. Guys like LaMont Jordan and Julius Jones are long gone, so I'm set to take LenDale White as my RB3 if the guy in front of me doesn't. Hopefully he's not reading because my RB situation goes from thin to desperate if White is gone. I'm actually confident in the pick based on what we're hearing out of Tennessee in camp.
After White and Jackson, I see a big drop-off to players like Ladell Betts and Vernand Morency. The value just won't be there. My choice will come down to: Take my second-ranked tight end (Chris Cooley) or the best WR available (we start 3).
The wideouts on the board will include D.J. Hackett, Santonio Holmes, Kevin Curtis, and Ronald Curry.
So what would you do?

I'd go with White there as well.
If he goes before you, things look pretty muddy. I wouldn't jump the gun and take a TE, as
Cooley, Heap, or Shockey are all great values and at least one of them will be there for your next pick.
I'd probably go WR if White isn't there. I'd to with Kevin Curtis. Stallworth had some big games for the Eagles when he was healthy last year, and I see Curtis having similar success but with more consistency. DJ Hackett is also a good pick there, and I'll mention Brandon Jones as another option as well. Good luck!

I would take White as well. If he is taken before you select, however, I'd choose Hackett. Not only does he have the height to be a red zone threat, but he also earned the trust of Hasselback down the stretch last year. With Darrell Jackson gone, a starting gig and more production is on the horizon for Hackett. I feel that he'll be more consistent from week to week than Curtis or Holmes.

I see White fell to you. Awesome. But then you went ahead and took Hackett with your next pick...
It seemed to me that you were in a great spot to get Cooley there. Good chance a TE run this round will leave you with someone outside the top 10 TE's.
Still, your team looks solid. Nice draft so far.

In a league that starts three wide receivers, you have to be thrilled with Fitz, Wayne, and Hackett. Even outside the top 10 TEs (if a run does occur), someone like L.J. Smith, Heath Miller, Randy McMichael, or Kellen Winslow Jr. (at worst) will likely fall to you. None of the above, besides maybe Winslow, are a significant drop off from Cooley.

How do you know he went with Hackett? Personally I think Holmes could have a big year.

Gregg, I heard a report that White came into camp about 20 pounds overweight. Any truth to that one?

If white is not available take holmes.I might even take holmes over white anyways.
Hope draft goes good. How many points are defenses worth in your league. If alot take the bears.
