Anderson vs. Frye vs. Quinn

Mr. Anderson

#17. Browns QB: Derek Anderson vs. Charle Frye vs. Brady Quinn

One could argue that the winner of this battle doesn’t matter because Quinn will get the job at mid-season, canceling out all their value. In fact, I just did. Any chance Quinn has to win the job for Week 1 will probably go out the window following a holdout.

In leagues where teams start two quarterbacks, Anderson could be a sleeper for the first part of the year. I own Braylon Edwards in one league and absolutely am rooting for Anderson because he has a better chance to stretch the field and showed real potential late last season. If you want to know which fantasy magazines weren't paying attention this summer, find the ones that boil this battle down to Quinn and Frye. We've probably written about it too much.

Note: I'm on the news this morning, so will be back in the early afternoon with our final position battle on the blog (the remaining 15 will be for a Friday column). After that, it's camp coverage for the six weeks. Thankfully.

How long would Quinn have to hold out and how many wins would the Browns need in the first half for Anderson to have a chance to start for the entire season (assuming he wins the job)?

i think for anderson to have a chance to start the whole season, he would have to keep them in playoff contention, which is highly unlikely.

i think he has to stay very close to .500 to keep the job.

I think this is underrated. "Sweet" Charlie Frye (a creepy nickname Jim Brown coined on NFL network) put up tolerable numbers during part of the season last year. I see Brady Quinn putting up Jake Delhomme like numbers, and Derek Anderson doing something similar to David Carr. They all seem like great bye week options if the matchups fair well. These guys also have a great impact on Braylon Edwards and Kellen Winslow...and you cant forget about Joe Jureviousciuosuosus in the 20. The Browns are like a blind date thats barely hot enough.

I dont care whos quater back as long as we win a win is a win thats all that matters
