Jordan and Jacobs: Could have been worse
I own Lamont Jordan and Brandon Jacobs in my dynasty league, so I was very interested to watch the running back movement in the NFL today: Dominic Rhodes to the Raiders and Reuben Droughns to the Giants.
While I'm not excited both runners have competition, it could have been worse. The reality is that Jacobs and Jordan were going to have competition regardless. The quality of the competition was the question.
Droughns and Rhodes are backup-quality talent. They are useful depth. I have to run out of the office (making a rare appearance at Rotoworld headquarters), but I like Jordan and Jacobs' chances of winning the majority of carries against these two. Jordan is coming off a knee injury and a lost season in Oakland. Jacobs is unproven. Their teams had to get some insurance.
A first-day rookie pick would have been a much bigger threat. We've seen what Droughns and Rhodes can do and they are ordinary. If Jordan and Jacobs can't beat them out, they wouldn't be that valuable in fantasy leagues anyway.
