Catching my breath ...

We're over 100 posts on the day on the news side. Joe Horn, Joey Porter Jermaine Wiggins, Keenan McCardell, Drew Bledsoe, and Fred Smoot are among the big cuts. Fred Taylor, Dre Bly (now a Bronco), Jerricho Cotchery, and Dan Morgan are among those with new deals. Wes Welker should be back in Miami, while the Seahawks left the door slightly open for someone to swipe D.J. Hackett.

I'll try to put it in perspective in some fashion when I can catch my breath. For now, here's a few interesting links I set aside earlier today before bedlam erupted.

  • It's probably a bad sign for David Carr's future when two veterans throw him under the bus on the same day. NFL players usually keep their mouths shut, so for Dunta Robinson and Eric Moulds to publicly say Carr needs to go says a lot. He's never been a favorite of teammates.

  • A lot of good stuff on the new Jaguars offense this morning. Greg Jones may play H-back. Byron Leftwich is a great fit for the team's vertical offense and has talked a lot of football with Dirk Koetter. Reading between the lines, you can tell the new staff isn't impressed with Ernest Wilford. They want a new slot receiver, so Wilford will probably just be a backup on the outside.

  • Some random, funny stuff from the Jaguars.com writer Vic Ketchman in his mailbag. He might be the best team website writer out there. Oh yeah, and he says the Jaguars aren't interested in Randy Moss. Maybe it's Moss' agent floating these rumors.

  • A rough run down of team-by-team cap room. Keep in mind these numbers have already changed dramatically.

  • Len Pasquarelli's top 30 free agents.

  • Here's an interesting look at how some Cowboys' career could change under Wade Phillips.

Okay, back to the news page...

Note: I know I'm a little fried because I let this sit here unpublished for two hours! I also ordered takeout without having any cash on me. And left my sneakers on the train on the way to my Dodgeball Championships last night, although that can probably be blamed on general forgetfulness. About the Dodgeball: Don't ask.
