Super Bowl week, oddly, could be the quietest NFL news week until July. It's hard to scrape up some morning news over at Rotoworld.
One very interesting report indicates that Randy Moss isn't on board with Lane Kiffin's hiring. This is just a rumor at this point, but it could be Moss' first step in forcing a move out of Oakland. It would probably be good for his career.
Pete Caroll thinks that Kiffin will draft Jamarcus Russell.
Interesting data from profootballreference.com on the tendency to run on second-and-ten.
Another day, another Sean Salisbury puff piece. This has to stop. I'll speak for Jews (and sports fans) everywhere: We don't care what you said and will forgive you if you just be quiet.
Big couple weeks in indie rock! The Shins and Clap your Hands Say Yeah come out with albums in back-to-back weeks. Both had very tough acts to follow. Pitchfork gives CYHSY a 7.2. I was a little more disappointed than that, but there are a few gems. One thing that drives me crazy about Pitchfork: Half of every review seems to be a review of the coverage or hype surrounding the band. Isn't it their job to ignore all that?
The Shins album is more consistent. I'm not sure James Mercer can write a bad song. Now we're just killing time until the new Arcade Fire.
And three weeks in, I've already broken down and written about pop culture. Must ... get ... back ... to ... football.
